Pretty much the fact is Trace doesn't care in the slightest about honour, his family or anything like that, all he wants is Power and to control his Grandfathers company. But the more he delves into this he can hear echoes of his father telling him to stop and be a loving son, Its sort of him fighting against his old self and his new self, Part of him wanting to become Numb like the rest of the Company so he won't have to think of how he harmed his mother and the girl he loved, while the other wants to frolic in emotion whether it be bad or good it just wants to feel something. He's lost his mother from birth and those he loves have all pretty much been killed, He thinks once he has control over The Company maybe it will all be better again, but he's confused I guess, trying to work out where he fits in the world, but until then he feels The Company is his only home.
